2024.10.14 NYCU Launches Taiwan-Japan Exchange Office to Fuel Innovation and Partnership

To further promote collaboration between Taiwan and Japan, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) established the Taiwan-Japan Exchange Office (TJEO) in June 2024 under the leadership of President LIN Chi-Hung. On October 14, NYCU held an official opening ceremony, attended by President LIN, university officials, representatives from the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, as well as members from industry and research institutions.

During the ceremony, Professor SAMUKAWA Seiji, who leads the new office, shared the vision and objectives of the initiative and introduced the team members. He highlighted the office’s mission to enhance academic and industrial cooperation through partnerships with Japanese universities such as Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, Kyushu University, and Kumamoto University. The focus will be on fields including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and biomedical sciences, positioning NYCU as a key player in academic diplomacy and expanding Hsinchu’s innovation ecosystem into Japan.

President LIN emphasized in his remarks that universities play an essential role in advancing the growing collaboration between Taiwan and Japan in the semiconductor industry. He expressed strong support for the office and its expected role in facilitating this crucial international partnership.

Deputy Representative Dr. HATORRI Takashi from the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Taipei Office also delivered a congratulatory message. He affirmed that the activities of the TJEO align with the association’s goals in promoting academic, cultural, economic, and technological exchange, and expressed eagerness for future cooperation.

As public institutions, private enterprises, and individuals across Taiwan and Japan continue to strengthen ties in various fields, TJEO aims to serve as a vital bridge to deepen mutual understanding and collaboration.

2024.10.14 台日交流推進室のオープニングセレモニーを行いました

陽明交通大学における日本との交流を促進するため、林奇宏学長のリーダシップのもと、今年6月に陽明交通大学に台日交流推進室が立ち上がり、10月14日、学長をはじめとする大学関係者や、日本台湾交流協会、関連企業、研究機関等の参加のもと、オープニングセレモニーが行われました。

セレモニーでは、台日交流推進室の主任を務める寒川誠二教授より室のビジョンや職員の紹介がありました。寒川教授からは、日本の北海道大学、東北大学や、九州大学、熊本大学との連携により、半導体分野や、AI、バイオメディカル分野での産学連携を強化して学術外交を担い、大学が核となる新竹のエコシステムを日本に広げていく旨のプレゼンテーションを行いました。

その後の挨拶では、林学長から、近年の日本の半導体分野における台湾との連携を成功させていくためには、大学の存在が欠かせないこと、台日交流推進室が陽明交通大におけるカギとなる役割を担っていくことへの期待の声をいただきました。また、日本台湾交流協会台北事務所の服部副代表からは、台日交流推進室の活動が、同協会が担う日台間の学術・文化交流や、経済、技術交流等にも合致し、協力をしていきたい旨の励ましの挨拶がありました。

台湾と日本は、文化や経済など様々な分野において、公的機関や民間企業、市民レベルなど多様な主体が連携を強めています。台日交流推進室は陽明交通大学におけるさらなる交流の深化に向け、台湾と日本の懸け橋となるよう尽力していきます。
